The Squirrel's Tail
The squirrel's tail that's on the floor
fills in the crack beneath the door.
The door is not able to close anymore.
What other use is it good for?
It makes a good soup. (It's delicious to eat.)
And one in each shoe will deodorize feet.
When one hollows it out it's a sheath for a knife,
and worn round the neck it will lengthen one's life.
The tail is full of Vitamin Q,
and there's quite a lot more that a squirrel's tail can do:
When freshly cut off from the end of the squirrel
it repels every creature that lives in this world.
When conversation happens to cease,
bring it out as a conversation piece.
If it is placed on a pencil or pen,
the talking's just bound to start up again.
Put it on top of somebody's head,
or hang it from the ceiling by a long thread.
When placed in a hat, or a pocket or book,
it will surely arouse a curious look.
Carefully hidden in the bed of the owner's sister,
it will make the room look as if hit by a twister.
Tie twenty together to make a long rope,
or clean out the insides and use them for soap.
Tie around your finger to use as a reminder,
or put around horses' eyes to use as blinders.
Give it to your dog, he might like the smell.
He'll roll over, snort, and chew on it well.
In school, for discipline, it's the emergency tool.
Or shave it and mark it and use as a rule.
A perfect gift or souvenir,
and a fantastic idea when April draws near.
Use as a spare finger in an old glove,
if you fail to use it as mentioned above.
Put it in a jar or a window display.
If you don't have one now, then get one today!
It's really quite useful, and one-of-a-kind.
(Is this why it entered Mr. Henson's mind?)
And now you know why it is so often that you see,
the sought after squirrel will run up a tree.
So this story is now closed and ended;
(My squirrel's tail needs to be mended).
