The Call
By the cleansing water poured
and the word of Christ our Lord,
each who thus has been baptized
should learn life is highly prized
by a loving, caring God
who himself on earth has trod.
Therefore know that this was planned
not by water-pouring hand.
Hearing then a still, small voice,
exhausting every other choice,
called by Christ and His command,
"Go out into every land",
working hands, reflective minds,
yoke of special service binds.
Word proclaimed, people hear it,
moved to act by God's own Spirit.
In their hands the scriptures place.
Teach them of the means of grace.
Bring them to the holy table.
Encourage them as you are able.
Teach them ever faithful prayer
when it seems He is not there.
Lovingly He knows our hearts,
Understands our inmost parts.
Adam claims he is not drowned!
Prodigal is LOST, not found!
Gave your best, and fear the worst?
Do not fear, for at the first,
when presented, washed and named,
I, Almighty Father claimed,
with the Holy Spirit sealed,
by my Son your child is healed!
