Lazarus
Bring us the gospel, loud and clear.
The power of God is present here.
Tell us again what we already know.
The Spirit of Truth new things will show.
Do not submit to peripheral themes.
No matter how fitting or proper it seems.
None of the efforts or devices of man
Inspire the works that the word of God can.
Things that are needful and ought to be done
must not distract us from God's only Son.
As anxious as Martha, we must have a quorum.
The hour of worship is no time for a forum!
An opportune time for godly extortion
from Mary, for choosing the only good portion.
Whether or not the motion is carried,
Lazarus dies, then he is buried.
"Lord, if you'd been here..."
But how closely He kept.
And when He arrived, just look how He wept!
Let us take heed then how Lazarus was raised,
Returning to worship, let God be praised!
